The London Chamber Music Society has enjoyed a very productive and successful time at Kings Place, having promoted more than 400 concerts since we moved there in 2008. We have many great memories from our collaboration. However, after 17 years, we have decided that it is now time to refresh and explore anew. LCMS trustees are therefore delighted to announce that we have entered into an agreement with St John’s Waterloo, to move our concerts there from September 2025.
St John’s is an elegant and characterful Georgian church that celebrated its 200 th anniversary last year. It has an excellent acoustic, is well supplied with natural light, has good facilities, and is very centrally situated between the River Thames and Waterloo station. A £6.5m project to refit and enhance the church was completed two years ago, and it is now well-equipped to provide a first-rate 21 st -century concert going experience. The area around St John’s also has a range of excellent café and restaurant possibilities.
We will join a range of other interesting events now taking place there, including a new chamber music series produced and promoted by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and I am already working closely with the St John’s Artistic Director, Euchar Gravina, to curate an attractive and exciting series of concerts for 2025/26 – more information will be available soon.
Euchar Gravina comments: ‘We’re absolutely delighted to welcome the London Chamber Music Society to St John’s Waterloo. Our beautifully restored spaces were designed to bring more people together for top-quality music and arts, and LCMS’s exceptional programmes and musicians are a perfect fit! This partnership continues our mission to transform St John’s into a vibrant cultural hub, where world-class music is accessible to both new and traditional audiences.’
